The membership of the society is open to any person who has attained a post
graduation in orthopaedics or neurosurgery and fulfils the terms and conditions of the
society but subject to the approval of the Executive Committee of the Association of
Spine surgeons of India. The Executive Committee shall have power to refuse any
applicant for membership without assigning or being required to assign any reason for
such refusal.
Subscription Categories
- Life membership: Life membership will be mandatory for all members. The
membership will be granted by filling the requisite form and payment of the
membership fee. This is a one-time fee valid for life. This will be Rs.5000/- plus
GST as applicable. However, the EC with the approval of the GB will have the
power to amend the Life Membership fee as & when considered necessary. All
Life Members will have voting rights.
- Associate Life Member: Persons other than qualified Spine, Orthopedics &
Neuro professionals registered with MCI / NMC, like Anesthesiologists, Bio
mechanic Engineers, Physiotherapists, nurses & technicians interested in the
field, may enroll themselves as Life members but they will be designated as
Associate Life Members. Associate members will have no voting rights
- Honorary Life Member: Any person whose admission, in the opinion of the
Executive Committee, is a matter of pride for the Association, may be enrolled as
an Honorary Member. The Secretary will prepare a note of the credentials of such
a person and keep that in the Association records along with the Minutes of the
Meeting where such a decision was taken. No fee is taken from such a member.
He will not have voting rights.
- Value Added Annual Subscription (VAAS). In addition to the regular privileges
to the Life members, there is provision for value added services to those who
subscribe for it. These include:
- Free subscription to e-journal (ISJ)
- Eligibility for various official positions
- Rebate in the registration fee for all the conferences and events organized under
the aegis of ASSI
- Eligibility for applications for Research Grants / Awards / Fellowships
- Eligibility for participating in Spine Registry and Multicentric Research
Projects
- Eligibility for presenting papers at ASSI events.
- These benefits are subjected to change as may deem fit from time to time with
appropriate approval.
Terms and conditions
Privileges of Members : All Members who subscribe to the Value-Added Services will be
eligible for the Value-Added Services as mentioned above. All Life Members (other than
Associate & Honorary Life Members) who have subscribed to 3-year (or more than 3 year)
subscription of Value Added Services will have log-in access to the official website of the
Association and will be able to view all material uploaded therein. He will have right of
access to all Association records to inspect & take photocopies, with 7 days written notice to
the secretary on a prescribed form and after paying the photocopy charges as required.
Right to Vote
- Whereas Life members have voting rights, the associate & honorary members do not
have any voting rights
- No member shall be entitled to vote unless he has completed at least one year of
membership
- No member shall be entitled to vote if his fee is not fully paid by the date on which the
election is announced, or a meeting has been called.
